What Do I Need To Know When Buying An ATV?

Riding an ATV is fun for kids, teens and adults. It is a great outdoor activity that can be a great experience for the entire family. As the saying goes, the family that plays together, stays together.

Getting into the ATV world is a great way to get kids (and often adults) away from too much time wasted on phones and video games.

If you are thinking about getting into the quad world (or you are already enjoying ATVs and are looking for a new model), there are several areas to consider:

*Age Group -- Our models at generally fall into three age groups – kids, youth and adult. The age groups overlap a bit with kids in the 3-11 range, youth 7-16 and over 16. Of course, as we know, the size and maturity of children varies significantly, so parents should evaluate how their son or daughter fits into a particular group. While it is true that “kids never shrink,” you should not purchase a model that your child is not prepared to handle at present. We are here to help you find the ATV that fits your kid’s abilities.

*Multiple Users -- Another factor to consider in determining the correct model is whether multiple kids (or adults) will be using the ATV. Make sure you are buying for the greatest, and most efficient, use of the vehicle.

*Engine Size -- It is important to match the engine size to the ability level of the operator. In general, smaller children can handle an ATV with a 50-110cc engine, 125-150cc for most kids and 200-300cc for bigger teens and adults.

*Reverse? -- With or without a reverse function is another question you need to consider. We have different models to choose from based on your preference on this operational issue.

*Lot of Styles -- Style does play a role in your decision-making process. Are you, or your kids, going the sporty route or more of a utility model? The utility models generally come with both front and rear racks.

*Transmission -- Most customers prefer automatic transmission and that certainly is the norm for kids and youth models. But semi-automatic (three speeds but no clutch) and manual transmissions are available, if preferred, for adult models.

*Color -- There is no question that color is an important decision for most buyers and we have a wide range of choices in all of our models. Kids especially like some of the exciting color combinations and graphics that can be purchased today.

*Tire Size -- Ground clearance is another consideration and our different models have a range of tire sizes to meet your needs and preference. Choices generally are either 16-inch or 19-inch, with larger tires for adult ATVs.

*Brand – As with most purchases, the choices fall into low, medium or high end models. At we carry a range of brands to suit your needs. And here’s some great news -- you don’t have to spend a fortune to purchase a good ATV. The quads carried by come at a fraction of the cost of models sold by Honda, Kawasaki, Yamaha, Polaris, Suzuki and other brands. Our models are very similar, if not identical, in design to their expensive counterparts.

*Safety – This is a paramount concern for us and we encourage you to take all the necessary steps to promote safety in your family’s use of the ATV. An important safety feature of many of our smaller ATVs is remote control with an engine shutoff. We also offer a control function which limits the travel distance of the throttle – an important feature on kids and youth models.

*Helmets – A crucial safety factor is the use of a well-designed helmet and we offer a variety of choices for all age groups. Of course, it also is important to wear other protective items while riding, such as long sleeves, pants and over-the-ankle boots.

*Family Fun – Our company has been delivering family fun since 1990 and we are here to help you make the right decisions for you and your loved ones. We think it’s great that responsible parents want to purchase an ATV for their youngsters with this in mind – if your children or grandchildren have their own unit, they are riding under your supervision and control.
